How do I check a contractor’s license in California?
Short answer: Use the free CSLB License Check at cslb.ca.gov. Type in the license number or business name, and it shows whether the license is current and active and which classifications it holds. B means General Building Contractor, and C-36 means Plumbing Contractor. Our license is CA Lic. B & C-36 #1139422, held by TN Builder LLC.

Use the CSLB License Check
The Contractors State License Board runs a free Check a License page. You can look up a contractor license or a Home Improvement Salesperson (HIS) registration. Search by license number, business name or person’s name, then open the record.
What B and C-36 mean
CSLB’s list of license classifications names (B) General Building Contractor and C-36 Plumbing Contractor. A license can hold more than one classification. Ours holds both.
